On May 31, 2022, the next course in our Certified Applied Positive Psychology Coach (CAPPC) program – Positive Psychology Coaching and the Strengths-Based Approach – will give you the knowledge and skills to achieve this.

This course introduces both novice and experienced coaches to the strengths-based approach, investigating the evolving science of human strengths and putting the evidence of their identification, measurement and development to practical use.

Course overview

The Science of Human Strength

This course introduces both novice and experienced coaches to the strengths-based approach, investigating the evolving science of human strengths and putting the evidence of their identification, measurement and development to practical use. 

Situated within the context of positive psychology coaching, students will look beyond the strengths assessment tools to gain a deeper understanding and learn how to help themselves and their clients really embody strengths.

Students will become familiar with core theories that underpin the strengths-based approach and their ability to enable human potential, and learn to apply these in multiple ways to increase wellbeing, meaning and purpose, and to help themselves and clients to accomplish goals. This will include embodying strengths in deeper, intuitive ways to build confidence and authenticity.

The course will explore mindsets and how to overcome the negativity bias to help clients focus on strengths in a way that enhances lives, resilience and motivation. Understanding of the various assessments and tools available will be explored whilst developing a personal and unique approach to embedding strengths within coaching practice.

Do you want to become a Certified Applied Positive Psychology Coach? Our ICF accredited program is your pathway to that goal.

The Certified Applied Positive Psychology Coach (CAPPC) program is the first of its kind to integrate the fields of positive psychology and coaching psychology with the practical application of evidence-based coaching to enhance wellbeing, strengths, potential and performance.

There is a growing interest in integrating positive psychology and coaching psychology within the practice of coaching. The IPPC is at the forefront of the emerging field of Applied Positive Psychology Coaching by developing a cutting-edge, science-backed advanced coach training curriculum for individuals, groups and organizations.

The program is split into two levels and contains 132 continuing education credits. Study is conducted virtually online, either live or by distance learning (12-18 months). A Certificate of Completion is awarded after six courses are completed at Level 1.

Level 1

Certificate

Your journey with the IPPC starts here. To complete Level 1, students must complete five compulsory courses – and one of three elective courses.

During Level 1, you’ll learn the foundations of applied positive psychology coaching using the IPPC’s methodology of an integrated approach to positive psychology, coaching psychology and evidenced-based coaching.

All Level 1 courses are listed below, along with the associated ICF credits; core competencies (CC) and resource development (RD).

Level 2

Certification - Practicum

After students complete Level 1, they can progress onto Level 2 – which contains two compulsory courses and six private coaching sessions.

During Level 2, you’ll have more opportunities for hands-on application of the evidence-based applied positive psychology coaching techniques and approaches that you mastered in Level 1.
