This workshop provides hands-on experience and skill-building to participants whose clients face a crisis situation.

Using cutting-edge tools and techniques based on positive psychology coaching theories, you will learn how to facilitate helping your clients enhance their resilience in times of crisis. This workshop will also provide participants with the opportunity to be reflective and reflexive. In-class activities will challenge and inspire participants to review their own resilience so that they can work collaboratively with their clients.

Workshop Learning Objectives

During the workshop, you complete the following learning objectives.

Learning Objective #1

Participants will learn how to identify the level of resilience presented by their clients.

Learning Objective #2

Participants will learn emotional de-escalation skills, so that a coaching conversation can be facilitated.

Participants will learn how to identify their client's resilience template.

Participants will improve their levels of non-judgmental listening through reflection and reflexivity.

Meet your instructor

Alison Bishop PhD, MSc.

Alison is an educator and researcher on resilience and is also a research supervisor in the Master of Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology (MAPPCP) program at the University of East London.

On top of being a certified counsellor, she is also a coach and graduate of MAPPCP program. Her PhD research studied resilience in enduringly chronically challenging situations.

Alison has presented her research findings on resilience, hope, and optimism at several industry conferences. She is most inspired by the courage that people have to share their challenges and change their lives. Alison truly lives out the philosophies of positive psychology, and both the people around her and those she helps clearly see the impact and difference it has made to her own life.
